Tim is the violin/viola instructor at Hiram College and conductor of the Hiram Chamber Orchestra. He is a graduate of Kent State University and has a Master of Music in violin performance. Other teaching has included Cleveland State, the Solon Center for the Arts, and Kent City Schools.
His performance experience spans four decades and includes the Cleveland Chamber Symphony, Trinity Cathedral Orchestra, the Ohio Ballet Orchestra, as well as the Akron, Canton and Youngstown Symphonies. He enjoys teaching students of all ages and levels from beginners through advanced players.
Kent State University. Devon is an award winning violinist whose background includes Regional and All State ensembles and the Cleveland Institute of Music Verve Chamber Players. She has also pursued a unique element in string playing by performing electric violin and viola in the renowned Lakewood Project which performs throughout the mid-west.
Devon also serves as a counselor for the Rock On! Orchestra Camp. Her private one-on-one studio teaching includes students of age levels ranging from pre-teens to adults. Devon’s style of teaching is personable and student centered and focused on the students individual needs and aspirations.
Gillian is one of Kent State’s premier scholarship cellists. Her background includes the Akron Youth Philharmonic, the Porthouse Theater, and the King’s Daughter Quartet. She is also well known and active in the community as a performer at weddings and other social events. Her outgoing and friendly personality provides a friendly rapport with her students. Gillian establishes an approach with her students that is individualistic and addresses the needs and likes of her students.
Jahna hails from Massachusetts and earned her BA in Music at the College of Saint Rose. She was a member of the Empire State Youth Orchestra (ESYO) for seven years where she toured China and South Korea. In 2010 she was also a member of the New York Youth Symphony Chamber Music Program and her quintet performed at numerous New York City venues including Weill Recital Hall at Lincoln Center. Jahna was a two time winner of several Concerto Competitions. She is known throughout the Capital Region for her innovative compositions and performances on several pop albums. She is a fun, experienced teacher who is relates to all age levels.
Chris is an outstanding Viola performer as well as an accomplished pianist. During his pathway to a B.M. and M..M. degrees in performance he has studied with master teachers from the Chicago and Cleveland Symphonies. He has been teaching since his undergraduate college years as well as in our local schools. His teaching style is personable and student centered. His own words describe his overall teaching philosophy, “what I love the most is to inspire students and watch them succeed. “
Viviana comes to us from Kent State where she is teaching Cello and completing her advanced performance degree as a Graduate Assistant. Viviana earned her BM performance degree at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, Columbia where she performed as the principal cellist and soloist with the Bogata Youth Chamber Orchestra. She has also performed in the Columbia Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra and the Columbia National Symphony. Viviana is an extremely proficient musician who enjoys sharing her talent and expertise with young students.
